Experience one of the most iconic white water rafting in Africa on the Wild and Scenic Nile River before climbing Mount Elgon; one of the most beautiful and dramatic mountain landscapes in Uganda. Every bend in the trail provides another photo opportunity in beautiful vegetations. Discover the beautiful Sipi Falls and learn about Sabinyo culture.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your local guide and escort you from the Entebbe International Airport to your homestay.

Day 2: Transfer to Jinja

Morning drive to Jinja with first a stopover at Sezibwa Falls for a cultural experience on our way to Jinja. The journey to Jinja is through beautiful landscapes of tea and sugarcane plantations, a tropical rain forest, and several homesteads. Arrive in time for lunch and later embark on a thrilling excursion down to source of the Nile where the river starts its long journey to Mediterranean Sea. Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: White Water Rafting and Sipi Falls

Experience one of the most iconic white water rafting in Africa on the Wild and Scenic Nile River. Here you can expect long, rollicking strings of Grade IV and V rapids, with plenty of thrills and spills. Later, you’ll proceed to Sipi Falls for an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 4: Coffee Experience And Sabinyo Culture Community

Today, meet the Sipi Widows’ Group who will take you on a guided walk through the coffee plantation demonstrating how to plant, pick, grind, store and wash the coffee. They have a reputation for producing some of the finest washed Arabica in Kenya and Uganda. As you meet locals, you’ll also learn about life of the Sabinyo, and participate in traditional weaving. Learn about African cuisine through the preparation, cooking and tasting of local dishes. Participate in raising awareness about the dangers of female circumcision traditionally practiced in this region. Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Sipi Falls Hike and Transfer to Mbale

Morning, after breakfast, take a tour around the beautiful sipi falls and visit the caves. They have such a scenic beauty and the roaring sound of waters falling down a steep rock makes it all simply magnificent! Later transfer to Jinja for overnight stay.

Day 6: Budadiri to Sasa Camp 2900m

In the morning drive to the gate of the Mount Elgon national Park. After arranging the guide and porters, with food and camping gear, you start walking to Sasa River Camp (2.900m) for the dinner and overnight. The distance is about 8 km and takes average 7 to 8 hours walk.

Day 7: From Sasa Camp to Mude Camp (3.500m)

After breakfast at the camping site, proceed through the forest to Mude Cave Campsite for dinner and overnight. It will take you 4 to 5 hours walk to reach the campsite. Altitude of the day: 600m.

Day 8: From Mude Camp to Wagagai Peak 4321m Then Return To Mude

After breakfast you walk through the moorland zone up to the main peak, Wagagai, and return to the Mude campsite for dinner and overnight. It may take 8 to 9 hours of elevation – 820m. Descending, you have the choice to return by the Sasa Trail or head onwards across the caldera.

Day 9: From Mude Camp Back to Budadiri and Transfer to Kampala

After breakfast descend to Budadiri where your driver guide will pick you and transfer you back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbale for lunch.

Day 10: Departure

After breakfast, your Responsible Travel guide will meet at the lodge for your transfer back to Entebbe International Airport for departure.
