Trip Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival - Visit Ewaffe Cultural Village
Start your day with a hot traditional breakfast, and a scenic drive to Ewaffe Cultural Village, where you’ll spend the day exploring into the traditional Buganda way of life. At the village, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the layout of a Buganda homestead, including the different huts and their functions, as well as the roles and responsibilities of each family member. The Buganda people have a strong sense of community and family, with each person contributing to the household in unique ways, from cooking and child rearing to farming and gathering. You’ll also enjoy a delicious local lunch, sampling rich Bugandan cuisine, which might include dishes like luwombo, matoke, and other staples, giving you a true taste of the region’s food culture. This experience will offer you an immersive glimpse into the traditions, family dynamics, and culinary practices of the Buganda people. Following your visit, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation for Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Kasese Town - Nature Walk Tour and Farm Tour
Start your day with a scenic drive towards Kasese town, where you’ll be immersed in the beauty of Uganda’s lush landscapes. Upon arrival at Rubalika Safari Lodge and Farm, you’ll enjoy a delightful two course lunch made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Afterward, embark on a guided nature walk and farm tour, where you’ll experience firsthand the farming processes behind crops like vanilla, avocado, cocoa, and matoke (plantains), while spotting local wildlife and birds with the help of an expert ranger. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the botanical garden, where you’ll learn about traditional and medicinal plants used in local healing practices. The tour includes a unique chance to see how Uganda’s famous Waragi Gin locally known as ‘War Gin’ is crafted, with a free sampling to follow. Later, enjoy a relaxing High Tea by the serene River Dura, taking in the peaceful surroundings. As evening falls, a delicious three-course dinner will be served at 20:00, followed by an engaging campfire experience with traditional music, dance, and drama, bringing the day to a memorable close with a celebration of Ugandan culture and hospitality.

Day 3: Cultural Engagement - Chimpanzee Trekking – Crater Lake
Begin your day with a hearty buffet breakfast at the Lodge. Afterward, set off on a fascinating community tour of the surrounding crater lakes, offering stunning views of the diverse local landscapes and unique geographical features. Visit the Mwita and Mungu villages to explore the twin craters and the captivating valley of magnetic fields, a mysterious area locally known as Uganda’s very own “Bermuda Triangle.” After the tour, enjoy a quality packed lunch or enjoy local food experience at Bridget’s Place in Bigodi before
embarking on a tea plantation experience.
Next, head to Kanyanchu, the briefing point in Kibale Forest, for an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure with expert Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers/guides. As you trek through the forest, you’ll search for the chimpanzees and once located, you will have a full hour in their presence and you will be amazed by the presence and proximity of our closest living relatives! After the trek, you’ll return to your Lodge via the scenic Ndali Craters, freshen up, take a peaceful walk around the lodge’s grounds, or relax by the riverside seating area. As the night falls, enjoy a delightful three course barbecue dinner at the lodge, followed by a cozy campfire experience.

Day 4: Wildlife Viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up early for a Jungle/Buffet breakfast at Rubalika, and then embark on a scenic journey towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way, you’ll make stops to explore the Mubuku irrigation schemes, witness the unique artisan mining in the region, visit the hot springs in Kasese, and the stunning salt lakes of Katwe. Afterward, you’ll enjoy lunch in Katunguru before heading out for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, where you'll have the chance to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and many other animals in and around the water. In the evening, embark on an exciting game drive within Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you’ll encounter the Big five (lions, leopards, buffaloes) and the iconic Ugandan kobs, and many types and varieties of birds. After a day filled with adventure, you’ll return to Rubalika just in time for a delicious three-course dinner to cap off the experience.

Day 5: Rubalika to Entebbe International Airport
