This 7 days itinerary hits the famous Congo-Nile Trail. The trail traverses a series of interconnected single paths, dirt roads and hiking tracks through Rwanda countryside passing different plantations and villages, some of Africa’s few remaining tropical rainforests and hidden beaches not to mention intimate encounters with locals. Not only is it still a stunning hike, your visit will also provide vital support for local livelihoods along the trail.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by Responsible Travel Africa Representative who will help you with your luggage and drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Genocide Memorial And Transfer To Gisenyi Via Pfunda Tea Factory

Day 3: Congo-Nile Trail Hike (Rubavu-Cyimbiri)

Duration: 5 hours Length: 16.5 km The 16.5 km stage of the Congo Nile Trail starts from Rubavu, the largest beach town of Rwanda. This morning after a hearty breakfast, we will pack our bags and depart from Ruvavu to Cyimbiri village. Day 4: Congo-Nile Trail Hike (Cyimbiri-Kinunu)

Duration: 4 hours Length: 13.4 km Today’s hike passes near or along Lake Kivu, through small villages and offers wonderful views of landscapes and coffee plantations of Kinunu and bird watching. Dinner and overnight in Kinunu

Day 5: Congo-Nile Trail Hike (Bumba-Karongi)

Duration: 5 hours Length: 15.9 km This 15.9 km is the last stage of the northern part of the Congo-Nile Hiking Trail from Bumba to Karongi Town one of the unique places for relaxation in Rwanda. Visit to INGE-BAHO COOPERATIVE known for its weaving and woodcarving activities or Bee keeping experience. Stop at Nkomero Center to savor our packed lunch and later transfer to kibuye by boat for an overnight stay at Rebero Kivu Resort

Day 6: Island Hoping

Spend the morning exploring the Lake Kivu and its islands on a boat and afternoon at leisure. Admire a beautiful sunset from the deck before enjoying a sumptuous dinner. Rebero Kivu Resort

Today, enjoy a leisurely morning relaxing at the hotel before being picked up and transferred to the airport for your flight
